Kitchen Equipment Needed:
- Mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Cooking spray or parchment paper
Ingredients:
- 4 cups cubed bread (such as French or sourdough), toasted
- 1 cup vegetable or chicken broth
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1/4 cup finely chopped mushrooms
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- Salt and pepper to taste
- All-purpose flour, for coating
Directions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Stuffing Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, vegetable or chicken broth, beaten eggs, chopped onion, chopped celery, chopped mushrooms, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried thyme, dried sage, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and the bread is evenly coated with the liquid mixture.
- Form the Stuffing Balls: Using your hands, scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the stuffing mixture and shape it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture, forming uniform-sized balls.
- Coat with Flour: Roll each stuffing ball in all-purpose flour until lightly coated. This will help them develop a crispy exterior when baked.
- Bake: Place the coated stuffing balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the stuffing balls are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve: Once baked, transfer the stuffing balls to a serving platter and serve warm. Enjoy these savory delights as a side dish or appetizer alongside your favorite holiday meal.
