Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, diced

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
    • Add the melted butter, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
    • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  3. Assemble the Rolls:
    • Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle the diced strawberries over the cream cheese layer.
    • Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  4. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
  5. Make the Glaze:
    • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
    • Once the rolls are baked, let them cool for about 10 minutes, then drizzle the glaze over the top.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the rolls warm, and enjoy the delicious combination of creamy filling and sweet strawberries.
