Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup (56g) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons (15g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (for mixing into the dough)
  • Optional: additional chocolate chips or chopped nuts for topping

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Melt Chocolate and Butter:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the 1 cup of chocolate chips and unsalted butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare Cookie Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined.
    • Stir in the vanilla extract.
    • Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the bowl, mixing until smooth.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in Chocolate Chips:
    • Gently fold in the 1/2 cup of chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Form Cookie Dough Balls:
    • Using a spoon or cookie scoop, portion out the cookie dough and roll it into balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
  7. Bake the Cookies:
    • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
