- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Directions:
- Prepare the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Cook the Noodles:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay them flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.

- Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

- Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread one-third of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by one-third of the meat sauce.
- Repeat the layers twice more, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake the Lasagna:
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
