Ingredients

For the kabobs

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cubed Ensure meat is halal-certified.
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce Ensure halal certification.
  • 1 piece bell pepper, cut into squares Any color of bell pepper can be used.
  • 1 piece onion, cut into squares
  • 6 pieces skewers (wooden or metal) Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 mins if using.
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the honey and BBQ sauce until well combined.
  • Add the cubed chicken and season with salt and pepper. Stir to coat all the chicken pieces. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for more flavor).
  • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Thread the marinated chicken, bell pepper squares, and onion squares onto the skewers, alternating between the chicken and veggies.
  • Heat the grill to medium-high heat.

Grilling

  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and lightly charred.
  • Remove the kabobs from the grill and serve hot. Drizzle extra honey BBQ sauce on top for added flavor, if desired.

Notes

For substitutions, feel free to replace chicken with halal beef or lamb, adjusting cooking time accordingly. Always marinate early for the best flavor and avoid overcrowding the skewers.
