Ingredients
  

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Prep the Rolls: Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half, separating the top and bottom halves.
  • Make the Custard: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
  • Soak the Rolls: Dip each roll half into the custard mixture, ensuring they are fully soaked but not falling apart.
  • Cook the Rolls: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the soaked rolls onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Add more butter as needed for subsequent batches.
  • Serve: Serve the Hawaiian Roll French Toast warm with a drizzle of maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar if desired.
