Kitchen Equipment Needed:
- Grill or stovetop grill pan
- Skillet
- Mixing spoon
- Aluminum foil
- Knife
Ingredients:
For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Burritos:
- Large flour tortillas
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
- Sliced avocado or guacamole (optional)
- Sour cream (optional)
Directions:
- Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until the beef is browned and the vegetables are tender, breaking up the meat with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add the Sauce: Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded together. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Heat the Grill: Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Assemble the Burritos: Place a large flour tortilla on a flat surface. Spoon some of the sloppy joe filling onto the center of the tortilla, leaving room around the edges. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and any additional toppings you desire, such as chopped fresh cilantro, sliced avocado, or a dollop of sour cream.
- Roll Up the Burritos: Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the bottom to enclose the filling completely. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
- Grill the Burritos: Place the assembled burritos seam-side down on the preheated grill. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the tortillas are golden brown and crispy and the filling is heated through.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove the grilled burritos from the grill and wrap them individually in aluminum foil to keep them warm. Serve immediately, garnished with additional toppings if desired.
