Red Velvet Marble Waffles are delightfully fluffy waffles with a beautiful marbled pattern of red velvet and classic waffle batter. They’re not heavy or overly sweet either. I think they’re perfect for a special breakfast or brunch, and if you’re not a fan of red velvet, feel free to adjust the flavors.

They will still be undeniably delicious! If you’re looking for a light & airy breakfast treat that’s not overly sweet, you’ve come to the right place. When you make a light and fluffy waffle and pair it with a rich red velvet batter, you get the perfect combination. The addition of the marbled effect just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for a special breakfast, and these dreamy waffles remind me of festive occasions. Not a fan of red velvet? Don’t worry, they’re still delicious with just the classic waffle batter.

Kitchen Equipment Needed

  • Waffle iron
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Whisk
  • Ladle or measuring cup

Ingredients

For the Classic Waffle Batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Red Velvet Batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring

Directions

  1. Prepare the Classic Waffle Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  2. Prepare the Red Velvet Batter:
    • In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Preheat the Waffle Iron:
    • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Create the Marbled Effect:
    • Lightly grease the waffle iron. Pour a small amount of classic waffle batter onto the waffle iron, followed by a small amount of red velvet batter. Use a toothpick or a knife to gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.
  5. Cook the Waffles:
    • Close the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions until the waffles are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the waffles warm with your favorite toppings such as whipped cream, fresh berries, or maple syrup.

Enjoy these Red Velvet Marble Waffles as a delightful breakfast treat that combines the best of both worlds in a beautifully marbled creation!
