Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread is a rich and savory take on the beloved classic sandwich, turned into a deliciously cheesy and indulgent appetizer or main dish. It’s a perfect balance of tender steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted cheese piled on top of crusty bread.

If you’re a fan of hearty, cheesy comfort food, you’ve come to the right place. This easy-to-make cheesy bread offers all the flavor of a classic Philly cheesesteak in a form that’s great for sharing. Not in the mood for steak? You can switch it up with chicken or veggies for an equally mouth-watering result.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Large skillet
  • Baking sheet
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons
  • Spatula
  • Aluminum foil (optional)

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the steak and veggies: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak, season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes. Remove steak from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper and onion, and sauté until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the bread: Spread the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard evenly over the cut sides of the French bread halves. Arrange them on a baking sheet.
  4. Assemble the cheesy bread: Top each half of the bread with the cooked steak, followed by the sautéed peppers and onions. Sprinkle shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese evenly over both bread halves.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Slice into pieces and serve hot.
