There’s nothing quite like the aroma of freshly baked biscuits filling the kitchen, reminiscent of warm memories and comforting flavors. Grandma’s Biscuits recipe is a cherished family tradition, passed down through generations for its simplicity and irresistible taste.

These biscuits are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or any time you crave a buttery, flaky delight straight from the oven.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  1. Mixing bowl
  2. Baking sheet
  3. Pastry cutter or fork
  4. Rolling pin (optional)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk (plus extra for brushing)
  • Optional: melted butter for brushing on top

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cut in the Butter: Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. The butter should be evenly distributed throughout the flour.
  4. Add the Milk: Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk. Use a fork to gently stir the mixture until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Shape the Biscuits: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough a few times until it comes together. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness. Using a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, cut out rounds of dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake the Biscuits: Brush the tops of the biscuits with a little milk to help them brown. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet. Serve warm with a pat of butter or your favorite jam. These biscuits are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but they can also be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
