Kitchen Equipment Needed:
- 9×13-inch baking pan
- Parchment paper
- Mixing bowls
- Electric mixer
- Saucepan
- Spatula
- Measuring cups and spoons
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the bars out easily after baking.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and salt until creamy and well combined. Gradually mix in the flour until the dough comes together.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan to form the crust. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, honey, and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped pecans.
- Pour the caramel-pecan mixture over the baked crust, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling and has darkened slightly. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
- Once the bars have cooled, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled bars.
- Let the chocolate set before lifting the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares or bars.
Enjoy these Easy Turtle Bars with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee for a truly indulgent treat. They’re perfect for satisfying any sweet craving and are sure to become a favorite!
