Easy Nougat Candy is a delightful treat that brings together the chewy sweetness of nougat with the rich flavors of nuts and dried fruits.

It’s a wonderful homemade confection that’s not overly sweet, making it perfect for a special occasion or just as a simple dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you love the texture of marshmallows but want something with a bit more depth and flavor, this nougat candy is the perfect choice. Whether you’re making it for a festive holiday or just because, this candy is sure to impress. Not a fan of nuts or dried fruits? Don’t worry, you can mix in chocolate chips or your favorite candy pieces instead!

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Candy thermometer
  • Heavy-bottomed saucepan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon
  • Baking dish (8×8-inch) or candy molds
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife for cutting

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds (or your favorite nuts)
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried fruits (such as apricots, cranberries, or cherries)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Prepare the baking dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal later. Lightly grease the parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Heat the sugar mixture: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, honey, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves. Insert a candy thermometer into the mixture and continue cooking without stirring until the mixture reaches 250°F (121°C).
  3. Beat the egg whites: While the sugar mixture is heating, place the egg whites and salt in a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  4. Combine and cook: Once the sugar mixture reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the heat. Slowly and carefully pour the hot sugar syrup into the egg whites while continuing to beat on low speed. Once all the syrup is added, increase the mixer
