Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Season the Beef:
    • Season the cooked beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika if using. Mix well.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk. Stir until smooth and well blended.
  5. Assemble the Casserole:
    • In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the thinly sliced potatoes. Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
  6. Add Cheese:
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake the Casserole:
    • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve:
