Crispy Juicy Fried Chicken is a delightfully flavorful dish that’s coated in a perfectly seasoned crust and fried to golden perfection. It’s not heavy or overly greasy either. I think it’s a perfect comfort food for any occasion, and if you’re not a fan of too much spice, feel free to adjust the seasoning.

It will still be undeniably delicious! If you’re looking for a dish that’s both crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, you’ve come to the right place. When you make perfectly fried chicken and pair it with a blend of your favorite sides, you get the perfect meal. The addition of a well-seasoned coating just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for a classic comfort meal, and this crispy fried chicken reminds me of family dinners and summertime picnics. Not a fan of certain spices? Don’t worry, it’s still delicious with your preferred seasonings.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Large bowl
  • Whisk
  • Deep frying pan or Dutch oven
  • Tongs
  • Wire rack
  • Paper towels
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients:

  • 8 pieces of chicken (drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breasts)
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the chicken pieces, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  2. In another large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Carefully place the chicken pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 12-15 minutes for drumsticks and thighs, and 8-10 minutes for wings and breasts. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  6. Use tongs to transfer the fried chicken to a wire rack set over paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving to ensure it remains juicy on the inside.

Enjoy this Crispy Juicy Fried Chicken with your favorite sides for a truly satisfying meal!
