Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a delightfully crispy and cheesy treat that’s topped with a savory garlic butter and a generous amount of cheese. They’re not heavy or overly greasy either. I think they’re a perfect appetizer or side dish, and if you’re not a fan of garlic, feel free to omit it.

They will still be undeniably delicious! If you’re looking for a light & savory snack that’s not overly heavy, you’ve come to the right place. When you make light and crispy breadsticks and pair them with a pillowy, cheesy topping, you get the perfect appetizer. The addition of garlic just sends it over the top. I’ve really been in the mood for something savory and cheesy and these dreamy breadsticks remind me of cozy gatherings. Not a fan of garlic? Don’t worry, they’re still delicious without it.

Kitchen Equipment Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Pastry brush
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife or pizza cutter

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Topping:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
    • Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Shape the Dough:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
    • Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Add the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter evenly over the dough.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, dried oregano, and dried basil evenly over the top.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Cut into breadsticks using a knife or pizza cutter.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Enjoy:

These Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks are a crispy, cheesy delight perfect for any occasion. Enjoy the savory, buttery breadsticks paired with the cheesy topping for a truly delightful treat.
