Ingredients:
For the Bread:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped, peeled apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
For the Praline Glaze:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
- Prepare the Bread:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples and pecans (if using).
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
- Bake the Bread:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare the Praline Glaze:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Stir in the light brown sugar and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped pecans.
- Allow the glaze to cool slightly before drizzling over the cooled bread.
