  • 1 can Wild Planet Lemon Caper Sardines (approximately 4.4 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese (or vegan cream cheese) For a dairy-free option, use vegan cream cheese.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For serving

  • 1 Baguette or crostini Choose your favorite for toasting.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and set them out on your kitchen counter for easy access.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained Wild Planet Lemon Caper Sardines, cream cheese, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard. Using a fork, mash everything together until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  • Incorporate the rinsed capers and fresh parsley into the mixture. Stir well to mix the flavors together. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
  • While you’re mixing the pâté, slice your baguette or crostini and toast them until golden brown (around 2-4 minutes in the toaster or oven).
  • Spread a generous amount of the sardine pâté onto each toasted slice. If you’re feeling fancy, garnish with extra capers or a sprinkle of parsley.
  • Serve your crostini as an appetizer at your next gathering, or keep them as a satisfying snack for yourself.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Store the sardine pâté separately from the toasted crostini to maintain freshness.
