Brownie Base

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional) For added chocolate flavor

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well-blended.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract together until frothy.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • If using chocolate chips, fold them gently into the batter.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or vegetable oil and pour the brownie batter in, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the brownies are set but still slightly fudgy.
  • Remove brownies from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.

Serving

  • Serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream or fresh berries.

Notes

For gluten-free variation, use almond flour and add an additional egg for moisture. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
