Ingredients
  

For the apple filling

  • 6 cups peeled, sliced apples (about 6-8 medium apples) Mix of apple varieties recommended for optimal flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Adjust according to the sweetness of apples.

For the topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, toss sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In another bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, remaining sugar, and salt. Pour in melted butter and mix until the topping is crumbly.

Baking

  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.

Serving

  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To freeze, cool completely first, then wrap tightly. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
