Ingredients
  

For the Chocolate Cake

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water This will make the batter runny.

For the Chocolate Mousse

  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

For the White Chocolate Mousse

  • 8 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water—this will make your batter runny but trust the process!

Baking the Cake

  • Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans.
