  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional) adds flavor

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and ground turkey. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the turkey is browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  • Add the diced carrots and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Stir in the frozen peas, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce (if using), followed by the broth. Let everything simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Pour the turkey mixture into a baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • Generously spread the prepared mashed potatoes over the turkey filling.
  • Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes, then serve hot.

Notes

Customize your vegetables as desired. Make ahead by preparing the turkey filling a day in advance. To enhance mashed potatoes, mix in cream cheese or sour cream for extra creaminess.
