  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery (optional) Adds crunch and flavor
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • to taste Salt and pepper

For the Sandwich Assembly

  • 4 slices of bread (your preferred type)
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella) For melting on top
  • Butter For spreading on bread

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by prepping your ingredients. Drain the tuna thoroughly and place it in a medium bowl.
  • Add the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped celery, and chopped onion to the tuna. Season with salt and pepper, and mix until well combined.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. While it’s warming up, butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  • Scoop half of the tuna mixture onto each slice of bread in the skillet.
  • Top each sandwich with shredded cheese.
  • Place the remaining slices of bread on top, buttered side up.
  • Grill for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve hot.

Notes

Consider adding pickles or capers for an extra kick. Use whole grain or gluten-free bread to suit dietary needs. If you like your cheese extra melty, cover the skillet with a lid during the last few minutes of cooking.
