Ingredients

For the patties

  • 1 can can of tuna (drained) Use your favorite brand for the best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs For that perfect crunchy texture.
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese Cheddar or mozzarella work wonders!
  • 1 large egg To bind everything together.
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion For a punch of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Because everything is better with garlic!
  • to taste Salt and pepper Simple seasoning goes a long way.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, shredded cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, and the egg. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything until well-combined.
  • Using your hands, form the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter. This should make around 6-8 patties, depending on how big you want them.

Cooking

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of oil. Once the oil is hot, place the patties in the pan.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  • Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or a simple side salad!

Notes

Feel free to swap out the cheese for your favorite variety or add in some chopped veggies, like bell peppers or spinach, for extra nutrition. Make sure your skillet is adequately heated before adding the patties to ensure they get that nice golden crust. Don’t skip on draining the tuna well; excess liquid can make the patties fall apart. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven to maintain crispiness.
