Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cups chopped cabbage
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while you prepare the ingredients.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the chopped onions and cabbage. Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, unroll the crescent roll dough. Stretch it to cover the bottom and sides of the dish, creating a crust.
  • Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  • Unroll the remaining crescent rolls and layer them on top of the cheese.
  • Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly option, try using ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. Make sure to grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
