  • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs Can be substituted with crushed digestive biscuits or vanilla wafers.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

For the filling

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (such as pecans or walnuts) Feel free to swap out for your favorite nuts.
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until well mixed. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate evenly to form the crust.
  • Layer the chocolate chips onto the crust, followed by the chopped nuts and shredded coconut.
  • Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the filling, ensuring it covers all the ingredients.

Baking

  • Place the pie in your preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

Serving

  • Once baked, allow your Texas Trash Pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Serve it warm or chilled with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

Tips for perfecting Texas Trash Pie: Feel free to swap out nuts or include your favorite candies for a unique twist. If the edges are browning too quickly, cover them with aluminum foil. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm a slice in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds or place it in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for a few minutes.
