Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Fresh jalapeño peppers Wash and slice, seeds can be removed for less heat.
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon Celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash and slice your fresh jalapeños. You can choose to remove the seeds if you prefer less heat, or leave them in for that extra kick.
  • In a medium-sized pot, combine granulated sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric, celery seed, and black pepper. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Once the syrup is ready, add the sliced jalapeños to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Using a slotted spoon, carefully transfer the jalapeños into sterilized jars. Pour the syrup over the jalapeños, ensuring they are fully covered.
  • Allow the jars to cool to room temperature before sealing them. Store them in the refrigerator— they can last for several weeks!

Notes

Adjust the spice level by modifying the number of jalapeño seeds removed. Use sterilized jars for freshness, and homemade cowboy candy can be enjoyed straight from the jar or as a tasty topping.
