Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare your baking dish by greasing a square or rectangular pan (8x8 inches or similar) with a bit of butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, softened butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan and create an even layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until slightly golden.

Making the Filling

  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and honey until creamy and smooth.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, blending until fully incorporated.

Assembly

  • Once the crust has cooled slightly, pour the cream cheese mixture over it and smooth it out with a spatula.
  • Evenly distribute the sliced figs over the cream cheese layer, gently pressing them into the mixture to secure.

Baking

  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until the filling is set and lightly golden.

Cooling

  • Let the bars cool in the pan before slicing into squares.

Notes
