Waffle Batter Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter Choose based on preference
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, then add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended.
  • Combine the wet and dry mixtures, stirring gently until just combined (don’t overmix!).
  • Fold in the sliced strawberries until evenly distributed.

Cooking

  • Spray your waffle iron with cooking spray, then pour the recommended amount of batter onto the iron (usually about ½ cup).
  • Cook for 4-5 minutes, or until your waffles are golden brown and crispy.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter until done. Serve warm with maple syrup and extra strawberries on top.

Notes

To achieve fluffier waffles, let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking. If you like your waffles extra crispy, bake them in the oven at 200°F (93°C) while cooking the rest.
