Preparation

  • Dice your fresh pineapple into small, bite-sized pieces.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, mix together diced pineapple, honey (or agave syrup), rice vinegar, soy sauce, and red chili flakes. Stir to combine.
  • Heat the mixture over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with water until smooth, then add to the sauce, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 1-2 minutes.

Finishing

  • Taste the sauce and adjust sweetness or spice level as needed.
  • Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
  • You can drizzle it warm or let it chill in the fridge.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze it in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
