Danish Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff Pastry Sheets, thawed Ensure they are cold for better flakiness.
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened Use full-fat for the best flavor.
  • 1/3 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 large Egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Powdered Sugar, for dusting (optional) Dust lightly before serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  • On a floured surface, roll out each puff pastry sheet to about 1/8-inch thickness and cut into heart shapes (3-4 inches).

Assembly

  • Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of half of the heart shapes, leaving space at the edges. Top with strawberry slices.
  • Carefully place the other half of the heart-shaped pastries on top, press edges together gently, and crimp with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg.

Baking

  • Place the danishes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

To enhance the flavors, try different fruit fillings like blueberries or raspberries. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
