Waffle Batter Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by preheating your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix gently until just combined, avoiding over-mixing.
  • Carefully fold in the sliced strawberries, being cautious not to break them up too much.

Cooking

  • Lightly grease the waffle maker if needed, then pour your batter according to the maker’s guidelines.
  • Close the lid and let it cook until golden brown, typically about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the waffles and serve them warm with your choice of toppings.

Notes

For egg substitution, use 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal mixed with 2.5 tablespoons of water. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the toaster or oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
