Ingredients
  

For the Treats

  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal Standard size, not instant.
  • 10 oz marshmallows (mini or standard)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Can use a vegan alternative.
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Be careful when folding in.
  • ¼ cup strawberry puree Blend fresh strawberries until smooth if not using store-bought.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  • Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and mixed.
  • Add the strawberry puree and vanilla extract to the melted mixture and stir until pink and smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the Rice Krispies until well coated.
  • Gently fold in the sliced fresh strawberries.
  • Transfer the mixture to the greased pan and press down gently to avoid crumbling.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a vegan version, use vegan butter and marshmallows. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
