Ingredients

For the steak

  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, sliced into thin strips Thinly sliced for best results
  • 1 cup buttermilk For marinating the steak

For the coating

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Mixed with seasonings
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs For a crunchy coating
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying Use enough to cover the bottom of the pan

Instructions

Preparation

  • Marinate the steak by placing the thinly sliced steak in a bowl and covering it with buttermilk. Let it marinate in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.
  • In two separate bowls, mix flour with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in one, and place seasoned bread crumbs in the other.

Cooking

  • Remove the steak from the buttermilk and allow excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, dip back into the buttermilk, and then coat in bread crumbs.
  • Heat enough oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to cover the bottom of the pan, ensuring it's hot enough by testing a small piece of breading.
  • Carefully add the coated steak strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove the Steak Fingers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces, such as ranch, BBQ, or honey mustard.

Notes

Cut steak against the grain for a more tender bite. Customize the breading with herbs or spices.
