Ingredients
  

For the Pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed) Store-bought is convenient.
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash Gives a golden finish.

For the Filling

  • 1 cup cream cheese (softened) Ensure it's softened for easy mixing.
  • ½ cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Icing (optional)

  • ½ cup powdered sugar Mix with milk for icing.
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk Use for mixing with powdered sugar.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle and cut it into 3-inch squares.

Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Place a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each puff pastry square.

Shaping and Baking

  • Fold the corners of the pastry squares toward the center and pinch together to create a pocket.
  • Brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg.
  • Place pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with milk.

Serving

  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a twist, experiment with different fillings like chocolate or fruits. Best served warm, and leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
