Ingredients
  

Shrimp

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (ensure it's Halal-compliant)
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce adjust to your spice preference!
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Cooking Oil

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

Garnish

  • to taste Green onions, sliced
  • to taste Sesame seeds

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  • In a smaller bowl, mix together the honey, soy sauce, sriracha, garlic powder, ginger powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, combine the cornstarch with a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss the shrimp in the cornstarch mixture until well-coated.

Cooking

  • Warm up the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the coated shrimp in a single layer to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  • Once cooked, drain excess oil, reduce the heat to low, and pour the sauce over the shrimp. Stir constantly for another minute or two to ensure the shrimp are well-coated.

Serving

  • Plate the shrimp and drizzle with extra honey if desired, topping with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

If you're vegetarian or vegan, consider using plant-based shrimp substitutes! Also, don't overcook the shrimp to avoid a rubbery texture.
