Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups peaches, sliced Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Add more sugar if you like a sweeter taste.
  • 1 cup self-rising flour You can make your own by adding 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and a pinch of salt to all-purpose flour.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, mix the sliced peaches with half of the sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  • In another bowl, combine the self-rising flour, remaining sugar, and milk until smooth.
  • Pour the melted butter into a baking dish, then pour the flour mixture over it.
  • Spoon the peach mixture on top of the flour mixture.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve the peach cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top. To store leftovers, let it cool completely, then cover with plastic wrap or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave for individual servings. Variations: Add blueberries, blackberries, or lemon juice to the peach mixture, or replace half of the flour with whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
