  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast Ensure the yeast is fresh for best results.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F) Milk should be warm to activate the yeast.
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • extra butter for brushing To brush the rolls before serving.

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and set them out on your counter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In the same bowl, add melted butter and eggs. Whisk until combined.
  • Slowly add in the flour and salt to the wet mixture. Stir using a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  • Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
  • Place the rolls in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, cover with a towel, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Store leftover rolls at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze them for up to 3 months. Reheat in a warm oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
