Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.75 cups softened unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Cinnamon Swirl Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon for the swirl
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for the swirl

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry. Mix until just combined.
  • In a small bowl, mix a tablespoon of cinnamon with a few tablespoons of sugar to create the cinnamon filling.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.

Baking

  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Serving

  • Once cooled, enjoy it plain, dust it with powdered sugar, or top it with a favorite glaze.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly alternative, substitute unsalted butter with coconut oil or a plant-based spread. Ensure the cake cools fully before serving to avoid a gooey mess. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light and fluffy.
