Dough Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast about 2.25 teaspoons
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk make sure it’s Halal-certified
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • Additional melted butter for brushing (optional)

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 packet of instant yeast, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix well to combine.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in 1 cup of warm milk, 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter, and 2 beaten eggs. Stir until the mixture starts to come together.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured countertop. Knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

Shaping and Baking

  • Punch down the dough gently and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them into a greased baking pan.
  • Cover the pan with a towel and let the rolls rise again until they double in size, about 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they’re golden brown on top.
  • Remove them from the oven and brush with more melted butter if desired. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute the milk with almond or coconut milk and use vegan butter. Ensure your dough rises in a warm environment and avoid over-kneading the dough.
