  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce Halal-friendly, check the label
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For Cooking

  • 1 bell pepper sliced Choose your favorite color
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • Green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
  • While the beef is marinating, slice the bell pepper and onion. Set them aside for later.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated beef to the hot skillet, spreading it evenly. Let it sear for 2-3 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry until cooked through, about another 2-3 minutes.
  • Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring continuously until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  • Add the bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Check the seasoning and add more soy sauce if needed. Cook for another minute until everything is well combined.
  • Serve hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Tips for perfecting the dish include avoiding overcrowding the pan, and ensuring not to use too much cornstarch.
