Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (or a mixture of ground chicken and turkey for a lighter option) Use high-quality meat for best results.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat for an extra crunch) You may use oats or crushed crackers if preferred.
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped (any color you love)
  • 1 unit egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Ensure it's halal-compliant.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup ketchup For topping.
  • 1 unit fresh parsley Optional, for garnish.

Preparation

  • Finely chop the onion and bell pepper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, beaten egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Mix until everything is well combined, but be careful not to over-mix.
  • Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it inside your crock pot.
  • Spread the ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.

Cooking

  • Cover your crock pot and set it on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  • Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  • Once cooked, remove the meatloaf and let it rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Slice and serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Customize your meatloaf by substituting beef with halal ground turkey or chicken. Experiment with herbs and spices for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
