Ingredients
  

For the marinade

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil For flavor
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Low-sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon honey Or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

For the tuna

  • 2 pieces fresh tuna steaks, approximately 6 ounces each Choose the freshest available
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds For garnish
  • 1 bunch green onions, sliced For garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, and rice vinegar until well blended.
  • Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Allow the tuna to marinate for 15-20 minutes for maximum flavor.

Cooking

  • Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of sesame oil for extra flavor if desired.
  • Once hot, place the marinated tuna steaks on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, depending on your preferred doneness.
  • Remove the tuna steaks from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Serving

  • Serve alongside jasmine rice and your choice of sautéed vegetables for a complete and satisfying meal.

Notes

Store leftover tuna steaks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat.
