Preparation

  • Start by washing and patting the chicken dry with paper towels to achieve a crispy texture.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken pieces, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, and minced ginger (if using). Let it marinate for about 10-15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Once the oil is shimmering, add the marinated chicken in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary.
  • Sear the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until nicely browned and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  • Drizzle the cooked chicken with sesame oil and gently toss to coat.

Serving

  • Remove from heat, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve hot over rice or steamed veggies.

Notes

Substitutions: Replace chicken thighs with chicken breasts or tofu for a vegetarian option. Ensure your skillet is hot before adding the chicken for a nice sear. Marinate long enough for enhanced flavor.
