  • 30 oz frozen hashbrowns About 1 package
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Your choice, like cheddar or mozzarella
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 lb sausage Or a vegetarian meat substitute, if preferred
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until brown and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  • If your hashbrowns are not pre-seasoned, sprinkle them with salt and pepper. Spread half of them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with a little milk until smooth, then spread it over the layer of hashbrowns.
  • Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, remaining milk, and more salt and pepper if desired. Pour this over the sausage layer.
  • Top with the remaining hashbrowns and sprinkle shredded cheese over everything.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve hot.

Notes

Customize ingredients based on your preferences. Fresh vegetables can enhance flavor. Be careful not to overbake.
