Ingredients
  

For the filling

  • 2-3 pieces Honeycrisp apples, thinly sliced Feel free to mix in other apple varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces Adds richness to the filling.

For the crust

  • 1 piece pre-made pie crust Rustic style is encouraged, so perfection is not necessary.
  • 1 egg for egg wash Gives the crust a golden color.
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping) Add on top for crunch and sweetness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Wash and thinly slice the Honeycrisp apples. Toss them with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Unroll the pre-made pie crust on a floured surface.

Assembly

  • Spoon the apple mixture onto the center of the crust, leaving about 2 inches of space along the edges.
  • Fold the edges of the pie crust over the apples to create a rustic border.
  • Dot with butter pieces over the apples.
  • Beat the egg and brush it over the crust, then sprinkle with coarse sugar.

Baking

  • Place the galette on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.

Serving

  • Let the galette cool before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of Halal ice cream.

Notes

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat individual slices in the oven to preserve flakiness.
