Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef - Halal certified
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (Cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add chopped onions, green bell peppers, and chopped mushrooms (if using) to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Stir in the cheese and mix until melted and combined. Remove the skillet from heat.
  • Prepare your baking dish by lightly coating it with cooking spray.
  • Unroll the biscuit dough and separate each biscuit. Press each biscuit into the bottom of the baking dish, covering the base completely.
  • Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly over the biscuit layer.
  • Top with remaining biscuit dough pieces and sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving to let the layers settle.

Notes

For substitutions, ground chicken or turkey can replace ground beef. Cook vegetables until just tender for a pleasant crunch. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, or freeze portions for up to 2 months.
