  • 2 cups ripe papaya, peeled and diced Opt for ripe papayas with a yellow-orange tint.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, roughly chopped Can substitute with fresh mint if desired.
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Fresh lime juice (optional, for a zesty kick)

Preparation

  • Start by peeling and dicing your ripe papaya. Ensure that it’s well-ripened for maximum sweetness.
  • In a blender, combine the diced papaya, chopped cilantro, and cold water. If you like a hint of sweetness, add honey at this point.
  • Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and well-combined. This should take 30-45 seconds.
  • If you prefer a smoother drink, pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, using a spoon to press out the juice.
  • Taste your drink and adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or a splash of freshly squeezed lime juice if you prefer some acidity.
  • Pour your Refreshing Papaya Cilantro Fresh Water over ice cubes if desired and garnish with a sprig of cilantro for a beautiful finishing touch.

Notes

This drink is best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Separation is normal; stir before serving again. Freezing is not recommended due to texture change.
