Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil for added flavor
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar optional for sweetness
  • 1/4 cup water

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, sugar (if using), and water until smooth.

Cooking

  • Heat your wok or skillet over medium heat. Once hot, pour in the mixture and stir continuously until it thickens, about 3–4 minutes.
  • As the sauce heats, taste it and adjust sweetness or spiciness if desired.
  • Once thickened, remove from heat and pour over stir-fried veggies or protein of choice.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Freeze in ice cube trays for longer storage.
