Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  • Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat, then sear the chicken breasts for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  • Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top of the sauced chicken.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Let the dish rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for best results. Adjust marinara sauce with red pepper flakes or mushrooms for added flavor. Letting the dish rest before serving helps lock in juices.
