Ingredients
  

For the beef and marinade

  • 1 lb carne asada (flank or skirt steak) Can substitute with chicken or ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Used for the marinade
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice Adds zest to the marinade
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder Provides a spicy kick
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor of the beef
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning the marinade

For assembly

  • 8 pieces Corn tortillas Soft and pliable for wrapping
  • 1 cup diced onions Fresh topping
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro Adds freshness
  • 4 pieces lime wedges For squeezing over tacos
  • 1 cup salsa For added flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix olive oil, lime juice, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  • Place the carne asada in a dish, pour the marinade over, and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and add the marinated steak.
  • Sear for 5-7 minutes on each side until desired doneness is reached.
  • Remove the steak and let it rest for a couple of minutes before slicing against the grain.

Assembly

  • Warm corn tortillas for a few seconds on each side until soft.
  • Place a generous scoop of sliced beef in each tortilla, then top with diced onions, cilantro, a squeeze of lime, and salsa.

Notes

Store cooked meat in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to three months. Reheat gently in a skillet for best results.
